Melissa Sweeney knew she cut it fine when ordering her wedding gown just eight weeks before her marriage to Nathan Bradley in May.
But things turned tense when a week before the big day the bridal shop announced the dress - from China - was being held by customs in quarantine."It was the worst time because I had been assured there would be no problems despite the fact it was short notice," Melissa said. The gown was Melissa's dream dress."I loved everything about it, the way it fell, its off-the-shoulder straps and beautifully beaded bodice," she said."I was really disappointed and was close to hiring a gown when I got a call from the shop two days before the wedding to say the dress had been released and was ready to be picked up."Melissa said she was extremely relieved that only minor repairs had to be made. She and Nathan, from Thirroul, were married at the Novotel Northbeach overlooking the water on Saturday, May 3 with 100 guests.Their 14-month-old daughter Kiara was flower girl. The three are planning a delayed honeymoon to Surfers Paradise with the newly weds heading off alone afterwards for a romantic holiday in New Zealand.
